003 - Video / Potential action for Violet
[...It's his birthday today. He's only noticed because of a calendar he passed, given that it was nowhere near his birthday at home. The point seems moot, given it's so far in the future that his age is far beyond eighteen anyway, but still...to see that date again so suddenly and so soon after death.
He isn't dead, of course, but it serves as a reminder of the life he's lost all the same. If the jutsu were reversed and people returned to their times, whatever animates or restored him might also undo itself. It's a possibility he must at least privately face.
He holds the pokedex today because Meditite handed it to him, but his expression is distant and deeply thoughtful. The look of a man wondering whether or not birthdays are to be observed here or only reminders of a life lost.]
...How many years are there in a pokemon's life cycle? They're born so quickly and often I imagine that must mean they have short lifespans.
[There's no point in mentioning his birthday, and it would be inappropriate to speak of his death publicly where Naruto might hear of it. Still, his thoughts remain on the day.]
Are we expected to mark down the day of birth for pokemon hatched in front of us and celebrate them in some fashion in coming years?

[This is the first time in a while somebody has asked a Pokémon based question that John didn't have a definite answer for, good job, Neji.]
And you aren't expected to do that, no. But it is a nice thing to do and your Pokémon will appreciate it. [He celebrates every single one of his Pokémon's birth/capture dates. With little party hats and everything.]
Random, I know, but your name wouldn't happen to be Neji, would it? [He has a ninja headband, and he looks fairly serious. Plus John's never seen him before, so he'd say the chances are high that this is Tenten's teammate from the future.]
video;
Isn't that presuming that each species has the same lifespan as the other? There are tortoises with exceedingly long lifespans, but a beetle may only live for a month. [Of course, that does make his question even more difficult to answer, doesn't it? Unless of course somehow these creatures are being sustained by the drained chakra in a similar, more long-lasting method to the Aburame clan's insects, and continue to persist as long as they have fresh chakra...
...He ignores the comment about celebrating the birth of the creatures beyond noting that it's not required, and instead addresses the direct question. He gives a small nod and studies the figure on the screen curiously.]
...You're a friend of one of my teammates? [Were he just a Konoha shinobi (or friends with one of those not from his generation) he would have addressed him as 'Hyuuga', not Neji. Only Tenten or one of the Rookies would have spoke of him to others as 'Neji'.]
video;
[John smiles.]
Yup! My name is John Egbert, I am a friend of Tenten's! I know a couple of other people from your world too, but she is the one who I heard about you from. It's nice to finally meet you!
video;
He notes the use of the word 'world', but for now dismisses it. He'd exhaust himself pointlessly if he argued the impossibility of the concept with every person he met. Only those with a chance of helping reverse the process somehow need be directed toward a time-based jutsu rather than a far-fetched dimensional one.]
Ah, Tenten. She would have spoken to you about my younger self, then?

There is a radio station in Lavender Town that used to be a burial tower for Pokemon who had passed on though, so they don't live forever.

Perhaps they don't show visible signs of aging as we would recognize them. By their reproductive cycles, this world would be far more overrun than it already is with the creatures if they lived longer than a human lifespan.
video
But you're right, they could just not show visible signs of aging.
video
Only two regions? What's preventing exploration of the other regions?

Fortunate, then. From what I've observed I'd quickly have no time to do anything else if I were expected to celebrate each of their births.

*Imogen would try to explain the logic behind it but she's not sure he'd accept video game reasoning as an answer.*
Well, it would be nice for them, unless you just like to do cute things for them any and every day! I try to. But I have a lot so I sorta cycle through them.
Video
[Video what.
He shakes his head, though he manages to restrain the scoff that he's inclined toward on the subject.] If they reproduce as often as I've observed so far, it seems it would be the opposite of 'nice' for the one holding the celebrations to attempt to keep up.
Video
*She's really confident about this, whatever it is.*
Why? What's wrong with a little fun? Parties and cake and being glad your friend is here for you, and has been helping you for a whole year!?
Video
[He frowns at the woman in confusion about this: is there something he's missing so far that she knows? Even the concept of immortality is difficult to believe. Surely something that causes sufficient and thorough enough damage could not be returned from. Incineration, perhaps, would prevent any sort of healing jutsu, even a life-transfer one.]
Should I continue to gather them at the rate I have so far, if I were to celebrate each day another arrived, I'd very shortly run out of days.
Video
*Explaining the subtle nuances of how video game logic worked seemed to be a waste of time, and she hardly wasted time unless it was really really fun.*
I don't know how you'd run out of days, there will be another one tomorrow. And the day after that. And the day after that. And the day after that. And the day after that. And the day after that. So there's always more time to come up with things to do. Although some of your Pokemon might have to share parties and activities.

[considering the fact that he's also caring for an egg here.]
I'd assume there would be some trainers following that exact same train of thoughts, and some that doesn't.
video;
[It's a little tiring to encounter another question no one has an answer to, actually...]
So there are no rules or laws to adhere to on the matter?
video;
[or at least, that's how he's been seeing it for a while now.]

[and both of those sounded miraculous, to be honest.]
