005: [Video/Action for Fuschia City]

[The first thing to broadcast, as is probably common in audiovisual communications, is the background music of either Celadon or Fuschia City. [Ah, yes, in case anyone hadn't noticed the number it is indeed Neji, not a strange messenger bird who'd gotten its hands on a pokegear. The one who did have its hands on a pokegear was Naruto's gift to him: the unruly Riolu that he'd taken to calling Inuzuka when shouting wasn't necessary.

There's a few moments where Riolu clearly pays no attention to the command, before a hand appears and Neji pries the gear away from the pokemon. Firmly.]

That is quite enough. Regardless of whether you misbehave, you are not to disturb other pokemon while they meditate simply because you are bored. Such behavior will not be rewarded.

[Ah. Yes. The feed is on, isn't it?

He frowns at the screen a few moments.] I don't suppose any of you have advice for dealing with restless and unruly infants?

I have advice. I can't promise it's good; the learning curve is pretty steep.

But I have a tomboy Riolu who likes to tease girly fire-types.

If the learning curve you're referring to is for me, rest assured that I am a quick learner. I can't say the same of this one.

[It's not Tenten who goes after him first; she went out to grab them both something to eat. Instead, a two-week-old Yamask emerges from behind the bed, drifting slowly and quietly toward both of them. When he's within easy reach, he abruptly shoots forward with a plaintive, haunting cry, reaching as if he might grab the young Riolu. He wants to be friends, too! He can be a good battler just like his trainer wants!]

[It was of course while Tenten wasn't there to distract Inuzuka (who seemed to be picking up a habit of going out of his way to attempt to annoy her) that he acted up out of boredom. Neji was hoping to ignore him until Tenten returned...but then the frustrating creature attempted to take the gear hostage.

The Riolu recoils a moment when the Yamask appears, but after a moment sturdies himself and gives an enthusiastic 'Lu!'

Apparently he's taking that as an invitation to spar. Which Neji would think is unfortunate, considering how weak Riolu is...but much like certain Ninja he'd known, losing his spars seems not to deter him at all.]

[The Yamask only wants to be friends, but if the other would like to battle? He can do that, too! He raises up ghostly fists --

Only to be interrupted by a massive Arcanine bounding into the room, letting out a loud bark of excitement at seeing so much activity. His Trainer was coming! Well, his temporary trainer, because he was still sure Joonhee was coming back! And little Mayu, too! But for now he was with Tenten and Tenten was coming!

Dongwook just leaps straight over the Yamask and the Riolu to instead stop right in front of Neji and sit obediently, tail thumping noisily against the ground as he barks again. Tenten is coming!!]

[...Ah. That was still a worryingly large dog.

He frowned at the dog, attempting to also keep an eye on Riolu in case the pokemon attempted to get into more trouble or resume his sparring attempts.]

...What are you trying to communicate? [He's clearly excited about something, after all. Unfortunately, he didn't seem as capable of speech as Obito's pokemon.]

[Tenten is coming!! What part of that is difficult to understand? He barks again and shifts his weight from a sit to a crouch, then abruptly leaps straight up in an attempt to plant both front paws on Neji's shoulders to lick his face.]

Dongwook!

[At the sound of Tenten's voice, the Yamask immediately perks up and flies back, latching onto the back of her head as she enters the room, two covered bowls of donburi in her hands, while the Arcanine pauses in his attempts to communicate and lets out another joyful bark. Tenten is here!!]

[Well he'd intended to contact him anyway so... this works too. He's... waaay more solemn than last time you saw him.]

You play with them more, and make sure that when they do things you don't like they'll know that you won't pay them attention, just stick them somewhere being watched by an older pokemon and ignored. Those types tend to hate that.

[He seems unusually...calm? Solemn. Perhaps their earlier conversation is weighing down on him still.]

As you'll recall, I have no older pokemon to burden with him, aside from Meditite. She's resting at the moment. [...But seriously, what is weighing down on you, Obito? That's basically what that frowning is saying in Neji-language.]

[He can speak Shino, you're not much of a challenge when compared to that Neji.]

Yeah, I guess I never had that particular issue. Inherited one pretty... quick off. [From a Rin. That name was so horribly jinxed. His faint smile fell right off his face for a moment there before returning at triple force.]

So I guess you just have to explain what's what to the little guy a lot and make it sit in corners when it gets out of hand.

[He can speak Hyuuga, Uchiha is not difficult for him to discern, Obito. The smile doesn't remotely fool him. He's also fairly certain there are mixed, conflicted messages over whether he's expected to address the matter Obito seems to be avoiding.

For the moment he will give the youth the opportunity to decide which, but if the signals continue to be mixed he will eventually break the barrier of silence if only to put a stop to them.]

...As you may be able to tell, he is less receptive to discipline than the others. Perhaps yours could instruct him.

[Obito speaks an odd dialect of Uchiha and you don't have a lot to work with anyway, don't think he forgot that part.]

I'd do that if you weren't off where you got to. I... ended up with more? Less? reasons to stay put I guess.

Generally speaking, they do things like that in order to garner your attention because they feel it is lacking at a given moment.

I have found that a mix of paying attention to them at times and at other times punishing them seems to result in a relatively well adjusted pokebeast.

Find something they enjoy that can tire them out! Sometimes you've just gotta burn energy. [She is not ashamed to admit she was a rambunctious tyke.

Hell, she's still a rambunctious teen. Also, have a Riolu popping into the video on Cassie's shoulder with a bark of agreement.]

Like me and Donna- we spar every morning and afternoon. It keeps me in shape and gives her someone to practice against.

...I see, I suppose his poor behavior may be a sign of too much pent up energy. [His pokemon were already quite energetic...but given Riolu's attitude and actions, it was possible he was even moreso.

How annoying and fitting of the trainer who gave him the creature.] Very well then, I'll attempt to make the time to keep up with it.

A little corporal punishment oughta do the trick! If you set it up in a battle, maybe it'll learn not to disturb the meditators. [ Tsunade-sama is kinda scary tbh. ]

I'm not entirely certain offering it more battles will discourage it. [He's beginning to wonder if he should have named it after Naruto or Lee instead, given he imagined even Kiba Inuzuka would have had more sense than the young Pokemon.] It might mistake the action for a reward...

Then keep it out of battle. I know I did that to punish Naruto once, and boy, it did sure work! [ maniacal giggle goes here. ]

...Perhaps that is the best option. [Although there is a question, when it comes to the young pokemon, over how long depriving it of battle would be a punishment to it, and when it would be more of a punishment to himself than the pokemon...

But surely it won't be so stubborn.]
