004: Date - July 12th - [Video/Action for the train]
[The feed opens not to pale eyes and Neji's customary frown, but Meditite. Apparently she's dug out his pokedex out of boredom while on the train to Kanto--as the angle of her grip should make it obvious.
She says a few rambling things looking at the camera, expression intent and tone off--almost as if she's copying Neji's usual tone--before Neji's actual voice comes from off camera.]
Come here with that. [While the words are short and to the point, there's a certain gentleness to the tone which may not have been heard by the network at large yet, and the Meditite immediately wanders over to hand it to him.
For those who neither recognize his voice nor his pokemon, some may at least recognize the pale lavender eyes that frown at the screen once he has it. Upon realizing it's on, he sighs.]

I didn't realize you guys were ditching out so soon after the contest.

She's taken to doing that.]
...Something came up on short notice. We should be back by the next. [He presumes, why stay in the wrong continent?]

[Just let him confirm his sudden suspicion on you there Neji.]

Have the two of you fought recently? [A subtle 'why jump to that conclusion?'. Even if it's glaringly obvious, given he's spent most of his time with her since arriving.]

Tell her to take my advice this time! Last time she didn't and Sasuke ran off with Itachi for weeks, it was ridiculous.
[He gave his head a shake.]
But yeah, no, we're not fighting, why?

Should I be aware of what advice I'm recommending to her? [Because frankly he wouldn't mind if Sasuke got himself lost in this continent completely and was never seen or heard from again. It would do Konoha good.]
I asked simply because you immediately questioned after her. [And the alternative is a close relationship of some sort or romantic interest on his part. Since he's not heard of you, strange ninja, he doubts the first of those alternates.]

Not that she's not pretty or anything just... not for me. You know. She's been all delicate and shy in Sasuke's general direction, it's weird and kinda disturbing. Just tell her to knock it off already, yeah?
But... I keep track of her. I was the highest rank nin in this place for months, so I kinda feel responsible for her still, you know? Even if there's jounin and Hokage around now, being the top Chunin was kind of a thing, just me and Shino having to handle Tenten, Sasuke, and Naruto.

...I see. I'll remember to keep close watch on her around Sasuke if that's so. [He knows that she is fixated on him, but it is displeasing to think she's also going to extents to try to appear 'feminine' to someone so unworthy of time and attention.]
As one of those Jounin, you need no longer feel responsible for tracking her. She is one of my teammates, after all. I have nowhere better to be than at her side, making certain she remains out of trouble.

[A wry grin touched his face.] So I'll just leave her to you. And good luck, she seems to think she still has her chakra or something when she gets into fights. She was almost in jail over the last one if we hadn't all hidden with her.

He sighs.]
Is that so? Which fight was this? Did she skirmish with a gym leader in the presence of someone she shouldn't?

I wish. At the time it was actually someone who was heavily targeting shinobi, and it was in combat where they were sending pokemon after people specifically. Unfortunately...
Well, she decided to talk the guy on hand to hand when he was both huge and had more backup.
ACTION
Sasuke's in Viridian. It'll be another six hours by flight after we get off the train.
[A beat, then she extends a hand for if Meditite wants to come over near her.]
You know you don't have to come, right?
ACTION
Six hours? Will the pokemon be able to handle six hours flight without break? [Meditite, who'd decided to grip onto his leg when he'd taken the 'gear away from her, stares at Tenten's hand with some dubiousness for a moment or two before she determines it best to release Neji's leg in favor of wandering over to investigate what Tenten had to offer instead.
Neji, meanwhile, shook his head.] I am hardly about to allow my teammate to travel twelve hours on her own across two continents in the middle of the night.
ACTION
No. We'll do a mid-air switch, it's pretty fun. I've trained mine to fly close enough together that it'll be an easy jump.
[She glances toward him and gives a one-shouldered shrug.] Not that I'm not happy to travel with you, but I've done it before. Except that was riding across all of Johto by myself when I thought the Rockets were after us.
[Worst birthday ever.]
ACTION
Meditite gleefully reaches for the berry once offered--as Neji would presume anyone who ate only one berry a day would, when presented with that food. Once food becomes involved the Swablu, who for reasons he can't yet figure out has taken to nesting under his hair whenever she wants to sleep instead of on his head, peeks her head out and squawks.]
Yosuzume. [He never officially picked a name for the bird, he'd just started calling it that because he felt obligated to call the infant bird something while teaching it to be less frustrating. So Yosuzume it is.] If you cannot be polite, you don't deserve any berries.
[Oh right, Rockets.] Only 'thought'?
ACTION
Though the laughter fades at the mention of the Rockets, and her gaze turns out the window.]
Yeah. It was back in March. Some Rocket-guy named Bowser held a grudge against Sasuke -- something about Sasuke destroying a piece of equipment of his when Bowser was attacking Goldenrod last year? -- and once he figured out that our forehead protectors meant we were all going to support each other, he let the whole organization know what Sasuke looked like and that he was an enemy of theirs.
And then a woman who was calling herself Tsunade-sama -- I don't think she was the real one though, she's gone now and nothing like the one who arrived a couple weeks ago -- revealed to them that our forehead protectors meant we were all connected and broadcast it publicly to try to help, but it just meant that any Rocket knew how to find us if they wanted. So we all ran for a safehouse in Olivine and tried to go into hiding.
Didn't really work though, I mean, Bowser found us by accident a few weeks later, but we fought him and drove him off. But I'm starting to think that was a bluff, because nothing's happened to us since. And Bowser seems to be gone now, too.
[She takes a breath and glances to him finally now that she's finished explaining, quirking an eyebrow to see how he'd react. It's long, but important (to her, at least) and considering that during that high-stress time for all of them is when she got closer to Sasuke...? It seems pretty relevant, too.]
ACTION
He's more than willing to allow the bird to go without, but given that Tenten has already gone through the trouble of digging out the berry, he supposes he can relent this one time.
Although, he does wait and listen to her first. So...an organization much like rogue-nin they've dealt with that temporarily targeted all the weakened shinobi...because of Sasuke. Yet another reason for him to disapprove of the child.
The Tsunade-imitator is also interesting. Just who might pretend to be Tsunade and why, when henge is no option, and any shinobi from the appropriate timeframe would clearly recognize her as an impostor?
Once she glances back at him, he holds up his hand for Yosuzume to step onto, allowing her within potential reach of the berry without having to stretch from his hair quite so much.] You may have it only if she offers it and you take it politely, Yosuzume.
[That dealt with, he turns his attention back to Tenten.] So all of the shinobi were on the run at the same time. Why not deal with the Rockets together? Unless they possess chakra?
ACTION
So she waits for Neji to give the all-clear before huffing a quiet laugh of amusement through her nose and extending her hand to let the little bird finally take the berry. They looked pretty wimpy, Swablu, but once they evolved they were pretty badass. Not that Neji's would evolve any time soon, if what she'd seen of his so-called training was any indication.
She keeps her attention on the Swablu as she answers, with the kind of tired air that shows that this isn't the first time she's said as much,] No one has any Chakra here, Neji. Including us. I lost one of my knives -- like the ones I gave you -- by hitting one of Bowser's Machamps in the eye. It worked, but seriously, Neji, some of the Pokémon around here aren't something you can really mess around with without reinforcements. That's part of why I had to travel all the way across the continent, because I wasn't dumb enough to think I could take them all on by myself.
